    Every All-Inclusive Resort Needs These

    By MountainMama | January 12, 2008

Last month my family and I spent three nights at the brand-new Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas — an indoor waterpark resort. One of the highlights of our stay at this family-friendly resort (besides the 80,000-square-foot waterpark, 100-game arcade and high-tech, hotel-wide scavenger hunt) was the wristbands we were given at the front desk to let us into the waterpark.

    They doubled as room keys.

One swipe of our wrists in front of our hotel door, and voila — a click and turn of the handle, and we’re in. Sheer brilliance!Cancun Resort

No more, “Who has the key?” every time you leave the room to hit the pool. No losing keys at the bottom of sandy beach bags. At all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, you’re wearing a band anyway, to identify you as a guest of the resort — why not insert this nifty little techno-wonder inside the band and make it dual purpose? Probably the cost involved.

But here’s another nifty feature: At the Great Wolf Lodge, you can scan your wrist in front of vending machines and the cost of your snack will be charged to your room account. Yes, it’s an easy way to rack up $4 charges at the Dippin’ Dots machine, but it’s so cool!

Parents can choose whether or not to give their kids charging or room-key access in their wristbands. We let the kids have their own wristband keys, and they got such a kick out of being able to run back to the room all by themselves. No asking for a key from Mom or Dad. Vacation independence at its best!
