Dream Job at Disney
By MountainMama | January 22, 2008
As a freelance writer, I think I’ve got a dream job. I work from home, most often in my sweats. My schedule is totally flexible, which means I can volunteer at my kids’ schools, go to exercise class three mornings a week and meet friends for coffee or lunch. Add travel to the mix, and I feel like I am living the good life.
But here’s a dream job that just may take the cake: Chief Magic Official during Disney’s Year of a Million Dreams celebration (which is now going on for its third year, and looks like it’ll extend into 2009).
The Year of a Million Dreams, also known this year as the Disney Dreams Giveaway, is a hugely popular Disney promotion where folks are stopped in the various parks in Orlando and Anaheim and awarded some really cool prizes. Some are low-cost experiences — like the Dream FastPass, which allows you to cut in line at any of the popular rides that accept FastPasses. Others are once-in-a-lifetime events — such as sleeping overnight in the Cinderella Castle Suite. Click here to read an article I wrote about the giveaway and how to enter from home.
So the Chief Magic Official will travel to Disney parks up to eight times starting in May 2008 to be on hand for appearances, bestow prizes and otherwise “make magic” for Disney guests. On “CMO assignments” the winner will get round-trip airfare, deluxe accommodations, hourly wages and a spending allowance.
Disney says the ideal candidate relishes the spotlight, is comfortable in front of crowds, loves everything Disney and believes in everything magical.
Is this you? Log on to DreamCMO.com to learn how to enter the contest, which includes sending in a video. Hurry, the deadline for entry is January 27.
