Ladies and gentlemen, the Nike golf balls giveaway contest is closed, and we have a winner. This Winning Wednesday winner is Miss Deb. In response to the question, “What is your favorite thing to do at a luxury resort,” Miss Deb answered, “I love to have a good massage and then lay by the pool and have pina coladas brought to me.”

Pina Coladas are popular tropical drinks, by AradilA woman after my own heart! These – spa treatments and pool side tropical drinks – rank right up there with “kids happily entertaining themselves” in terms of my favorite luxury vacation relaxation activities. In fact, the spa concept came up quite frequently in this contest’s entrant comments. Kelly C., our very first entry, wrote that “we always enjoy the spa when we stay at a luxury resort,” and that really seemed to set the tone. Although, it should be noted that plenty of people reported enjoying a relaxing game of golf as well. Funny, since most times I’ve watched golfers on vacation, a nine-iron gets thrown in the water hazard at one point or another. I guess we all relax in our own ways.

Chuck D. has one lucky lady: He wrote that his favorite luxury resort activity is to “send my girlfriend to get a massage while I get in a round of golf.” And some of the contest entries manage to hit on both aspects here, such as Zoltan A., who wrote “I would like to have a good massage and a drink after a round of golf.” Well, why not? It’s your vacation. I know that, while I didn’t play golf at La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, I sure did avail myself of the relaxing atmosphere, not to mention (again) the top-notch spa and pool side drinks. I miss it already.
