Baby and Toddler Travel Product Contest Giveaway - For Easier Family Vacations
By MudslideMama | September 22, 2008
Traveling with young children isn’t easy; anyone who has taken their tots on vacation with them can attest to this. I have older, travel-friendly kids now, but I used to lose sleep the night before a trip - Would I be the mother of the screaming baby on the plane? (Yes, it turns out.) Would I forget the special cuddle toy or blanket? What if the hotel had one of those outdated, dangerous cribs? I can’t help you with a crying baby mid-flight, but this Traveling Mamas Contest Giveaway can help with the latter two concerns.
We have two products for babies and toddlers to send to one lucky winner. The first is the Traveling Mama On the Move Approved Secure2Me blanket. This soft and cuddly blanket attaches to strollers, car seats, and other travel systems. Secure2Me blankets come in several patterns and colors; the contest giveaway one is unisex white and lime green. It’s guaranteed to clip on and stay on travel gear, so that you don’t have to worry about losing or forgetting it. As recently noted, these blankets make for great baby shower gifts (if the contest winner has older children).
The second prize in this Traveling Mamas contest giveaway eliminates the need for those metal bedrails on vacation. Bedbugz are inflatable bedrails that attach to hotel beds’ mattresses. They deflate easily in the morning, too, and nice to have in case the hotels don’t always supply child-safe beds or cribs. By the way, I grew up (in part) with a copper bedrail, on the top bunk of a bunkbed. I can attest to the annoyance of rolling into a cold metal bar in the middle of the night - sometimes, it even hurt. This inflatable bedrail is a comfortable and safe alternative.
To enter this contest giveaway, please leave a comment below. We’d love to hear about a trip you took as a toddler, a trip you took with your toddler, or a vacation you would like to take with your children if you could. A winner will be randomly chosen; no relatives of Traveling Mamas eligible, and US residents only, please. This contest giveaway is open until midnight on Tuesday September 30, and the winner will be announced on Wednesday October 1. Good luck, and safe travels!

My daughter just became a toddler, and she doesn’t travel well in town. I can’t imagine cross country! We intend to visit friends 10 hours away in South Carolina next summer. We’ll see…

We took a cross country train trip on Amtrak with our 1 and 3 year olds (several yrs ago). Can you say bruised forehead? Every time the train bumped, little “I just learned to walk” guy found something to make contact with on his way to the floor. Doh! I would use the Secure2Me blanket as gift for our favorite preggers 2nd grade teacher and I have a 3 y/o nephew who could really use the Bedbugs when we go to Grandma’s house.

So many choices…We took our 18 mo. old to Maine and Vermont this summer. We drove. He has about a three hour time limit so we just planned on lots of “fun” stops. On our way back, we stopped for two nights at The Wildflower Inn in Vermont. This place is made for toddlers.
I would love to take our toddler to Egypt or Tunisia this Winter but the market uneasiness is making us feel more like a Coastal California trip with lots of hang out time in San Fran.

the biggest trip we went on was to the space center… to the moon is where I wanted to send them- when people were around- well behaved- when they turn around terror hits

My grandson is 2 now. My son and his family (who is pregnant again) come here 2 weeks every year and I don’t have room for a crib for 2 weeks. The rails are a perfect solution!

As a child my family and I spent every summer at Hilton Head Island. As an adult, we’ve returned many times, often now with my grown siblings and their families…allowing all of the cousins to enjoy the same summer fun and memories we loved. My youngest has not yet been. Hilton Head is such a special place to me, and I would love to take her there and introduce her not only to a place I love, but to the ocean!

As a California girl, my daughter has never experienced a true winter. We are going to take her to see snow for the first time next January. I can just see her squeal at the sight of the cold, cold snow.

we are always on the go since my fist daughter was 10 days old..So I can go on and on about the stories. but still even today with them 6 and 4, we start early morning and don’t drive after sun set wherever we go. that makes them less cranky and trip more successful.

The last time we went on a trip, my little was so cranky. We decided to turn around and come home. That was after driving for a hour and all we heard was crying.

I’d love to take my son to Disney World!
September 23rd, 2008 at
I have travelled many times with the kids. It is always a challenge, especially in the grandparents houses because they are no longer baby proofed, have tons of breakable nick nacks and choking hazards, and they think all the modern safety stuff these days is rubbish “you survived didn’t you?” they say. We tend to stay at a hotel and request baby proofing for the room when we go to visit the grandparents.

i’d like to take grandson pete fishing at the lake

When we took our 15-month-old daughter on a 20-hour trip across the country to visit relatives in Montana a couple years ago, we left in the afternoon and drove all night so that she was asleep for most of the trip. There was no way she would have endured being in her carseat that long any other way. Now she’s 3 and a half and her brother is 8 months old, and we’re planning a similar trip.

we went to my uncles house and stayed all night

When our oldest son was about a year old, we went to a state park with my sister and her husband. We stayed in separate cabins next to each other. We put our son’s play pen in the walk in the closet. It was big and had no doors. While we were visiting right outside the cabin door with my sister and her husband, my husband went in to see if our son had fallen asleep. He came out and said he couldn’t find him. Of course, I was scared to death. Well, he had managed to crawl out and fell asleep in the corner of the closet. Thanks, Cindi

We drove to California from Washington with our daughter. It was GREAT! We were saved by the portable DVD player. We loaded up on Coloring books, movies, snacks and travel toys and by the time we got to Disneyland (18hours) She was still fine!

I remember the first time I took my oldest daughter to California to meet my dad. It was wonderful. She was always a wonderful traveler and it became a yearly tradition for the two of us. There were no electronic gadgets for us at the time so we always got to know each other more and more with those trips.

My husband and I took our 15 month old to Reno, NV to see the in-laws. They generously bought the tickets, but to save money we ended up with a four hour layover in Los Angeles! Thanks a lot m&d in-law, but needless to say, we’ll be buying our own tickets next trip!

Last Christmas I traveled alone with my then 9-month old to see his dad in Mexico. The trip started on Christmas day after our Dec. 24 flight was delayed and we stayed home rather than risk missing our connection in Ariz. We took off from Chicago at 7 a.m., connected in Phoenix, traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where my husband picked us up around 4 p.m. Then was a four-hour car ride into the mountains to where his family lives. It was a great experience and we got to have more fun on the way back. We left my in-laws’ house at 2 a.m., drove four hours to Puerto Vallarta, flew an hour to Mexico City (my son cried the entire time because he was sick), had a 6-hour layover before getting on a 5-hour flight to Chicago. He slept about three hours on the flight back. It was so amazing, I’m traveling alone with my 4-year-old step-son and 1-year-old son to the same destination this year! I can’t wait (and I’m not being sarcastic).
September 25th, 2008 at
Despite leaving the longest comment/description, I feel it should also be noted that this will be the 4-year-old’s first trip to Mexico and, hence, the first time he meets his paternal grandparents.

I took a trip with my older child to San Antonio, and she went with daddy to Sea World while I was busy at a convention last month. When she was a toddler, we took her to Canada-only thing is we forgot her birth certificate. They let her into the country, but getting her back home into the US was not as easy! (we got some very stern words from US Immigration, thank you.) We have yet to visit Florida, and do the Disney/Universal Theme park thing, hopefully in the next couple of years. These would make great gifts for hubby’s daughter, who just had a baby last month.

My husband and I just took our two boys, 3 and 4, on an Amtrak train ride from Oklahoma City to Ft. Worth. It was fabulous! I had toys to last us 24 hours, just in case. And a DVD player. And snacks. And 10 or so books. Our backs were breaking from all the stuff but oh, the memories!

The bedrails would be really handy for our trip to Disneyland. We went last year for my daughter’s second birthday and she rolled off the bed in the hotel! This year we’re taking her again and we’re taking our 7 month old as well. I think I may just bring some pillows and set up camp on the floor for her and put the baby in the pack and play. Disney was great though, she had so much fun and she would not nap because she was so excited to see everything. She fell asleep on Pirates of the Carribean.

Ok been several trips with wee man… The best/worst all at the same time was when we moved to this horrid place… We decided to make a vacation of it and oo that was wrong… He was hmm just shy of 2yrs.. DH, me, wee man and bubba san (80 lb dog) in ONE vehicle driving from way way way down in texas to well way way way up past Washington DC… The drive alone was fun but tough with wee man but the hotels were arghhh.. he was still in a crib so we had to haul his pen around for him to sleep in (and dog bed)… Then when we finally got here the house that they had lined up for us to move into wasn’t ready.. So, for almost THREE weeks it was the four of us in a one bed/room hotel…
Since then we have had nice vacations ;however, we now had a newborn so the traveling of vacations with include to wee ones… wiicked13 [at] yahoo [dot] com
