Lush Beauty Products Contest Giveaway - New Toner Tabs for Smooth Skin

    By MudslideMama | October 5, 2008

LUSH’s philosophy has always been based on ethics and having the least amount of impact on the environment while still producing effective beauty products. This Traveling Mamas contest giveaway is for the beauty company’s newest product line, Toner Tabs. These are solid tablets of vitamin rich essential oils and hydrating fluids to tone our weary faces.

But what are these Lush tablets, exactly? Well, they’re exactly what they sound like; concentrated little “pills,” if you will, that you drop into a bowl of hot water. Then you lean over the bowl (preferable with a towel over our head, but that makes it hard to read a book at the same time) and enjoy. The steam hydrates and revives your face. The Tea Tree Toner Tab helps clear spots and blemishes, while aloe vera powder calms, softens, and refreshes the skin. This is great for teenagers’ hormonally traumatized faces. The Vitamin C Toner Tab is better for us older types out there; the restorative, skin-softening rose oil, and anti-oxident rich vitamin C oil does away with some free radicals aging our skin. The Vitamin E Toner Tab is good for all skin types, from teen to tired old mom (that’d be me, by the way). Strongly scented like lavender, this is a terrific way to keep all of our faces balanced and toned. The essential oils of neroli and geranium, along with lavender, compliment the anti-oxident power of vitamin E. I like to relax in a steam bath, and these toner tabs are essentially steam baths for our faces.

Five of each Lush Toner Tab - Tea Tree, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E - will go to one lucky winner. This contest giveaway is easy as pie to enter: Simply leave a comment below describing (briefly) a day you could have really used a relaxing steam bath. Or a clear complexion. Either one; and in the winning post, I’ll describe a day my face turned against me as well. US residents only, please: It’s a shipping costs thing. The winner is chosen by a random number generator. Contest is open until 6:00 AM PST, Tuesday October 14.

I think it was the day that my oldest broke up with her boyfriend after 3 1/2 years. Everyone thought they would get married and it was absolutely devastating. I cried for days on end. I seriously could have used a steam bath to relax me then. (Thankfully she was right about it all and she’s much happier.)

Being a woman - daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, ex mother-in-law, grandmother - sometimes all of the above get in the way of each other and I wonder how we can possible juggle our lives. One horrible day recently, I had my Dad (94) in the emergency room and my husband in the hospital, dauther at the vet with her very ill dog and grandaughter - well - just being a girl. I really could have used a relaxing soak!

She is my only child and I was just so worried about her all day. Being a SAHM for 5 years didn’t help. I was never away from her. So I could have definitely used a nice steam that day after all the stress.

When my grandma passed away, my mother was a mess and just fell apart. Someone had to organize the funeral, notify family and friends, talk to the florist, and handle the obituary. I took on all of these responsibilities so my mother could simply mourn her loss.. but in doing so I neglected to allow myself time to mourn. Once it was all over, I sank in my shower and finally mourned my loss as well. Could have really used a comforting bath then!

My daughter and I make Wire Wrapped Jewelry which we sell at craft faires and online. On Labour Day we were doing a 4 day show. On Friday it was very windy which ment that we had to take down all of our booth decorations because they kept blowing away. On Saturday the wind got worse 30 mph with gusts of 50mph. So we had to take down all of the display stands and just lay the Jewelry flat on the table. On Sunday it was so windy 40 to 50 mph and gusts in the 60’s. We watched 4 canopies get completely destroyed. We spent 4 hours just trying to tie the booth to the ground so it didn’t blow away. Finally we decided it was safe to put out the Jewelry if we pinned it all down to the table. I have one 40lb acrylic ring case that I thought for sure would be safe. It wasn’t 10 minutes later when a gust of wind hit that completely trashed everything. The acrylic case flew off the table and went crashing to the ground about 6 feet away. All the Jewelry went flying too. All I could do was the duck under a table and cover my face. So we finally gave up and threw everything in the truck and went home. I really could have used and nice relaxing soak. My face was so wind burnt and dirty, my nerves were fried. The next morning I woke to nice case of acne and I’m over 50. What a weekend.

Last week I was having a particularly hectic day. At 6am I was called in to suibstitute first grade. I then went directly to my afterschool job where along with my regular group activity I was asked to get seven 2nd and 3rd graders together to perform a play for a business breakfast later in the week. As I was preparing a fingerpaint rotation for my group I shook up the black paint and it exploded all over my shirt, neck, hair and the sidewalk.

I had to scrub it off the sidewalk so the janitor wouldn’t have an aneurysm, then finish my group and clean the bathrooms because the students got fingerpaints everywhere.

After work I was ready for a good long soak…but my new place has no tub :( So I plugged the drain and dropped a bath bomb on the shower floor.

Lush is divine! What day wouldn’t I need a great bath? A steam to clear my stuffy head from the allergies, warm water to soothe my aches, and the scent of clean and happy surrounding me. Everyday is worthy of a Lush steambath!

The day I dropped a full container of flour off the edge of the kitchen counter would have been a great day for a steam bath….and did I mention that my dog was in the direct path of the flour and proceeded to run around the house?

Today would have been a great day for a steam bath. I took three tests for my college online classes, cooked dinner, and took care of our three week old newborn daughter.

There was one day where I had to take a cab to a job interview, the interview went horribly wrong and I walked across the street to a restaurant to wait for the cab to pick me up. Well, I called and called and waited for hours and the cab never came (although they assured me that a cab was coming). Meanwhile, a snow storm was going on outside so it took me about eight hours to get back home.

We were having to pack up our household ourselves, and just didn’t plan well. We had to get a little sleep because we had to drive from Alabama to Dallas, TX overnight…so we napped for an hour or two, threw the rest of what would fit into the truck and took off. Most miserable day of my life…and after we got to Texas, I really could have used a relaxing moment. Did I mention we had a 1 year old? Oh, yeah.

On any night my son had colic, thankfully he is about two now but I remember this clearly. I was shellshocked at the end of each day by the time my husband arrived home. I was up all night and day. Holding him, doing all the different things that helped - for a little while.

      Have a lucky day.

It’s really hard to commit to one day that I need a relaxing steam bath, but maybe the day when ALL 3 kids were sick and whiny and I had a headache, but had to take care of the kids first.

The day I had to take my husband to the airport to catch his first flight on his way to Afghanistan for a year with the Army. I tried so hard to be brave but I was 7 months pregnant and all of my family was clear across the country so I felt so alone. It was like saying goodbye to the person I love so much and who is also my best friend.

Everyday I could use a steam bath. I have a 4 year old who has gymnastics, swimming, and soccer to drive around. I have a 1 year old with cerebral palsy who has therapy appointment 4 out of 5 days a week. Then my husband is clueless without my guidance, I have to get him off to work, and college. I barely have time to sit down and relax let alone have a steam bath.

I could use a relaxing steam bath everyday! I am a recent college graduate working my way up through the ranks of a major medical device company. I currently am in a department full of “lifers” and I fight every day to earn a promotion and move on to a more exciting position. My half hour gym break doesn’t always alleviate all the stress I endure.

I am a stay at home Mom of twins and a teenager. I do not get to spend as much time on myself as I would like. I could use it to have some “me” time after rubbing fries out of the carpet and trying to get my daughter to clean her room.
