Top Travel Game for School-age Kids: Yamodo! Good to Go!

I. Love. This. Game.

The premise of Yamodo! Good to Go! is simple: You have a small sheet of paper with a made-up word on it, like “rasipop,” “zingator,” “yamaroni” or “nufarium,” and a few sketched lines that are the beginnings of a doodle.

The first player turns the doodle into a drawing to help illustrate your definition of the word. Then you pass it on to the next player who adds to the doodle and the written definition. Typical definitions are three lines long, but you could keep going on the back of each sheet in the spiral pad (that comes with a pen).

Created for anyone ages 8 and up, this game combines creativity and collaboration. There’s an initial Yamodo! Volume 1 game, but the Good to Go! version is perfect for travel. What an awesome activity for families on planes, in the car (not the driver!) or to help pass the time in airports or waiting for restaurant meals. It’s definitely not for kids only; I could totally see my husband and I playing ourselves, no children around. It’s that entertaining.

My eight-year-old daughter and I played Yamodo! in our living room recently, having a ball and laughing about our designs and definitions: “Archipod: A roly-poly bug eating a butterfly and an artichoke” and “Swaggle: A slimy weird worm that jiggles when he dances.” Silly, silly stuff!

We also brought the game for my daughter and her friends to play at a restaurant recently. While I had to put the kabosh on using “potty words” (no made-up creatures “using the restroom” please!), the girls giggled lots while working together on their creations.

Yamodo! users can upload their favorite designs on the company website. None of my family’s pictures are up their yet, but we’ll likely post our favorites soon!

I heartily give this product an A+ and recommend it for stocking stuffers this holiday season and birthday gifts year round.

OH it is that time to think about stocking stuffers!! Yikes!
This sounds like tons of fun. I go camping with my honey all the time and this will be great for those long trips in the car. (He can help with definitions only!)

I’m always looking for great “purse-sized” activities to keep the kids happy in the car or restaurant. Very cute and creative!

Have you seen the little bananagram game? I just got one of those recently.
