Best Romantic Getaway Packages in Denver, Colorado

Yikes! Where did the time go? MountainDad and I were talking about getting out of Dodge for a romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day Weekend this year (February 14 is conveniently on a Saturday, with Monday’s Martin Luther King Day federal holiday to boot). But now Valentine’s Day is just a month from today — gotta get on those hotel reservations, for sure!

We’re looking at an urban adventure in our capital city, Denver. I figured there may be some Traveling Mamas’ readers who are also thinking about enjoying the Mile-High nightlife, amazing restaurants, museums, theatre and other diversions over Valentine’s Day Weekend (without kids!), so here are the fruits of my Internet research:

Hotel Teatro: This chic boutique hotel is just a block from the Denver Center for Performing Arts, and it definitely has that sophisticated artsy feel to it. Rooms have 12-foot ceilings and thoroughly luxurious furnishings and appointments (think down duvets, Indonesian marble and sandstone finishes). Dining is out of this world at the on-site Restaurant Kevin Taylor and PRIMA Ristorante. The Valentine’s Day Package includes champagne, chocolate and strawberries in your room, included breakfast, rose-petal turndown and late check out at 1 p.m. for extra snuggle time (love it!). From $279/night.

Brown Palace: Denver’s historic landmark hotel dating back to 1892 is well known for its traditional afternoon tea service. It’s got a fabulous central location not far from the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall. The “Light Up the Night” package starting at $219/night includes breakfast at on-site Ellyngton’s restaurant (or room service), evening cocktails in the lobby, rose-petal turndown and valet parking – key in downtown Denver, where parking can be hard to find or cost an arm and a leg.

Hotel Monaco: This boutique property in Denver’s LoDo is known for its irreverence — after all, this is the hotel where you can borrow a goldfish if you’re missing your own pet from home. Contemporary rooms are decorated in fiery reds and bold yellows, wireless is complimentary and if your sweetie is tall, you can ask for the “tall rooms” with extra-long beds and tall showerheads! Even the “Lucky in Love” package (starting at $292/night) hints that if you stay at the Hotel Monaco you might just increase your chance of getting lucky on Valentine’s Day. Package includes breakfast at the on-site Panzano Restaurant (with bottomless bellinis!), champagne and Godiva chocolate truffles, rose-petal turndown, one Colorado Lottery ticket (ha!), and an ultra-late check-out time of 2 p.m.

No matter if you spend your romantic Valentine’s Day Weekend getaway in Denver, up in the ultra-romantic Colorado mountains, or, for that matter, on the beach, on an island or overseas) the Traveling Mamas hope it’s lucky and lovely for you!

I meandered around Denver last fall and loved it! Be sure to check out the Tattered Cover bookstore, it’s a terrific place to find a new author, book, graphic novel and snuggle up in one of the comfy chairs and read.
