Best Romantic Getaway Packages in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Other posts by MountainMama

While I was researching Valentines Day Weekend getaways in Denver, I started daydreaming about a romantic escape with MountainDad to a locale even further afield. Two summers ago we spent a few nights in New Mexico with the kids and had a ball checking out all the family-friendly things to do in Santa Fe. But we vowed to return someday on an adults-only trip to further enjoy the amazing culture, museums and phenomenal restaurants in this New Mexico city.

I frankly doubt hubby and I will get down to Santa Fe just for the weekend next month (it’s more than a six-hour drive in warm weather; who knows with snowy mountain passes), but I sure had fun checking out potential romantic hotel packages (tucking the information away for future use).

Here’s how three luxury Santa Fe properties are igniting romance with packages for Valentines’ Day Weekend:

Inn and Spa at Loretto: This upscale resort is just a few blocks from the famous Santa Fe Plaza (and next door to the Loretto Chapel with its miraculous staircase). The rooms in this adobe-style property aren’t cheap: the “Romantic Retreat” package starts at $429/night, but that does include a candle-lit dinner for two with a special tastings menu and wine pairings, as well as champagne on arrival and rose-petal turndown service. Or if you’re an outdoorsy couple who gets turned on by being active together, consider the “Ski Santa Fe” package, starting at $399/night, which includes daily breakfast and daily lift tickets for two to the local mountain, Ski Santa Fe.

La Posada: This is another luxury hotel that’s set on six acres just two blocks from the historic Plaza. Sophisticated travelers appreciate the Pueblo revival architecture and abundance of Southwestern art on property. Consider the “Ski, Spa & S’more” package with two nights’ accommodation, one 50-minute massage per person (ask for a couples’ massage instead!), two lift tickets to Ski Santa Fe and a welcome amenity of hot cocoa and s’mores kit, plus daily breakfast for two; that starts at $251 per person, per night. Non-skiers might appreciate the “Winter Package”: hot cocoa and s’mores, daily breakfast and resort fee of $30 included in the room rate, which starts at $227/night over Valentine’s Day Weekend.

El Dorado Hotel & Spa: For the ultimate in pampering, book the “Nidah Spa Getaway” for Valentines’ Day Weekend, which includes continental breakfast delivered to your room plus two 50-minute spa treatments. Deluxe rooms for this package, which come with a king-size bed and kiva fireplace, start at $507/night. Is the price hefty… absolutely! But the four-diamond El Dorado, also in a prime downtown location, just might be the place to stay if you are able to pull out all the stops to celebrate a romantic weekend getaway for Valentine’s Day in Santa Fe.

Valentine’s day already? I better start planning my romantic getaway. Instead of New Mexico, how about going all the way to Cabo, Mexico? It could work. Great post here though – I’ve never been to New Mexico but have always wanted to visit. These hotels would be great choices! Thanks for posting :)

  2. Oh how I wish I could have a romantic getaway but for some strange reason nobody volunteers to watch twin two year olds over night….

Santa Fe is an overpriced dump. I can’t believe you have fallen for their “deals”…

Santa Fe a dump??? Come on! This fine art haven is one of the most beautiful, historical, romantic and cultural cities in the country. It offers some of the finest dining you’ll ever experience and endless activities.
