Two Spring Break or Summer Travel Books – Plus Giveaway

Other posts by DesertMama

I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I love to read when I fly and when relaxing on the beach. That is, I love to read when flying and relaxing on the beach sans children. A couple of travel themed books have recently crossed my path that I would love to share with you. I won’t lie, I have yet to read either, but I am excited to. Both are supposedly laugh-out-loud funny, non-fiction accounts (surely a bit embellished) and Travelers Tales books.  Both books are in my carry-on for my next adventure – and guess what! We’re giving away two of each (see below to see how to win your copy).

Cruise Confidential: A Hit Below the Waterline: Do you love behind-the-scenes, tell-all stories? I do – give me the scoop! If you do, too, or even if you simply like comic writing and humorous tales, Cruise Confidential is for you. Author Brian David Bruns has earned his right to write this story, having worked on Carnival Cruise Line. In the book he indulges his readers with his personal encounters and experiences. Today, Bruns is a professional speaker, artist and author of another book: Comstock Phantoms: True Ghost Stories of Virgina City.

A Rotten Person Travels the Caribbean: This is another non-fiction, first person account written by author Gary Buslik. The author appears to know his islands as he reveals tales of his adventures in the tropical, turquoise world of what we call the Caribbean and it sounds like he found the humor to go along with it. The cool part, he’s also a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago – now, he’s a professor I would have loved to have had in college.

Are you in need of some vacation reading?  Here’s how you can win these two books. Leave a comment below answering either question: Where would you go if you could cruise anywhere in the world? Or, where in the Caribbean are you longing to visit?

I’ll pick one winner via a random-number generator. This giveaway will run through next Monday March 23, 6pm (EST) and I’ll announce the winners shortly after that. US residents only please (sorry, in this economy I don’t have the funds to be shipping out of the country – but you can certainly find these books on Amazon.com).

Good luck and happy travels!
