Perfect Mother’s Day Gift for a Traveling Mama: Kangaroom’s Photo Storage Tray

Mother’s Day is coming up – do you know what gift you’re getting your mama? Memories and moms seem to go together, so with that in mind, let me tell you about the perfect gift for a Traveling Mama, or any mom who has a drawer of photos. You may have heard by now that the DesertFamily is moving to Minnesota this summer (quite a chance in scenery). Right now, we’re in the organizing stage. The other day I tackled the top shelf of my son’s closest, which mostly held boxes of my stuff, and I came across this unattractive plastic tub filled with photos. I plopped down and started going through them. There were hundreds of pictures of all my walks of life: family vacation to Taos, New Mexico when I was in high school, my flight crew standing in front of a Boeing 727 in Punta Cana, old airline friends during a trip to Honolulu, Colorado sunsets, and the list goes on. I thought to myself, there must be a better way to organize all of these photos. Guess what – there is!

Kanagroom, the same company that helps me organize my electronics every time I fly, created the Kangaroom Photo Storage Tray, a stackable six-compartment photo storage tray. The entire contraption holds 400 4×6 photos. As I was adding my photos to the drawer all I kept thinking was, this would be the perfect Mother’s Day gift. Each drawer has a plastic slit to display your favorite photos or to represent what trip is in each drawer. What I really love about the Kangaroom Photo Storage Tray is summed up in one word: elegant. The faux leather tray can be displayed on or under my coffee table or organized nicely back in my son’s closet. As for color, there are two options: black with green trim or brown with blue trim.

If you’re looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift for your Traveling Mama this Kangaroom Photo Storage Tray is it (you may purchase it directly through the site) — just don’t forget the card!

Tell all the moms you know! I found a great Mother’s Day gift for family & friends. Ceiva digital photo frames receive photos sent from anywhere in the world – even from camera phones & iPhones. Right now they have a coupon for 20% off on their website at http://www.ceiva.com: 9MOM2X

You’re lucky to still have all those photos. I had started a collection of not just personal life photos but also shots to use as a geographer when I teach or speak publicly. There was a 100 yr flood while my stuff was stored in the basement and I was out of the country doing fieldwork. All gone!

This contraption looks plastic: is it?

And when your Minnesota mom moniker going to be?

Jen, sorry to hear about your photos – what a huge bummer. No, it’s not plastic it’s faux leather. It actually matches a mail sorter I bought at Pottery Barn.

Not sure on a Minnesota Mama name yet, but I have had a lot of people offer fun suggestions.

I love great ideas for mother’s day gifts! And anything that has to to do with pictures is always a favorite for me.

BTW – I’m from Minneapolis, MN and I was thinking of what your new moniker might be – How about
Superior Mama (for Lake Superior of course :>)
Or if that’s seems a bit much you could try on North Woods Mama for size.
Good luck on the move – It really is beautiful here!

Thanks, Susan! Fun ideas. We’re tossing the idea of having a poll or some sort of contest for my new name. Might be fun.

  9. Something like that is exactly what my mother needs! And it would give her something to do for at least a week!
