Be flexible and adjust. Go with the flow. Wise words for children and adults in this me me - now now world we live it. Not just in traveling, but once you get home and get back into your normal "routine" whatever that is, these are concepts to live by.

I enjoyed your comments, especially that travel is an enduring gift. As a travel planner and a parent, I've embraced this idea for many decades. Only last summer was I able to introduce my 12 yr old son to some of the magical experiences that Smithsonian Journeys Travel has to offer. We went on a Smithsonian family cruise to Greece. We visited historic sites, we swam in the Aegean, we watched the sun set together for 12 nights in a row, we wanders the narrow streets of Santorini, we shopped and we dined together and it was just right. Sure there were a few bumps between us, but we quickly got beyond that when we'd look out from our boat and see the next island rising from the sea and we'd get ready for another day of adventure. Check out SmithsonianJourneys.org, there's journeys for families, and there's many other journeys to celebrate milestones and to engage your heart and soul.
