Club HAL is Holland America Line’s youth activities program found across the line’s cruise ships, except for the ms Prisendam. It offers supervised activities and events for the younger cruise guests, ages 3-17. The youth cruise program is staffed by full time, fully trained professionals offering activities such as scavenger hunts, themed parties, arts and crafts, video game competitions, and a variety of other fun things to do.
Traveling Mamas checked out Club HAL on the Nieuw Amsterdam, while researching a romantic cruise, and took a few photos and checked out this program to help you plan your next family cruise on this Holland America Line ship.
Program registration is required for this offering, for cruise passengers ages 3 to 6 years old. Sample activities include “Paining Picassos” and “Sing-a-long Storytime” along with theme parties “Ships Ahoy Pirate Treasure Hunt Adventure” and “Dino-Mite Night”.
Cruise guests ages 7 to 12 years old, can participate in this registration required program and enjoy ice cream eating contests, gaming tournaments and theme parties. There is also a special program with one of HAL’s partners, BBC Earth, schedule just for the Tweens. What’s really cool about the Tween Club HAL? In keeping with it’s New York City theme, there’s a real NYC Yellow Cab inside the club. FACT: This cruise ship area was built AROUND the cab!
This program age group does not require registration and is appropriate for cruise passengers ages 13 to 17. They’l get to enjoy Mocktail Parties, themed events, volleyball tournaments, gaming, and other activities.
Holland America Line welcomes children with special needs into Club HAL and provides staff trained to work with special needs children. Please let the cruise line know when booking your reservation, and your child can attend Club HAL activities based on chronological age appropriateness. And because safety is important, only parents attending with a special needs child will be allowed to remain inside Club HAL venues.
Club HAL offers activities from 8am to 4pm on port days. Parents or guardian must register their children and sign them in and out during these programs. Lunch is available to port day participants from 11am until 1pm.
