Lunch in Louisiana – Nottoway Plantation

by CajunMama

The first time I visited Nottoway Plantation, I was a bit disappointed. The grounds felt bare at the time and the stark whiteness of the exterior of the home coupled with the immense all white ballroom felt devoid of warmth and comfort.

At the time the home was undergoing changes in details that weren’t yet evident. Recently I passed the home while out exploring the back roads of south Louisiana with my friend Blair. We were hungry and decided to see what lunch offerings were available at Nottoway.

The home and grounds had undergone a transformation and felt much more welcoming and inviting. The $20 plantation home tour includes lunch in the onsite cafe. The lunch offereings usually are jambalaya or red beans and rice, but if visitors want to dine in the restaurant, they can get 25% any lunch or dinner entree.

We opted to enjoy lunch in the Mansion Restaurant with a view of the property. The lunch prices were reasonable and the menu has extensive offerings of traditional and contemporary Louisiana fare.

Nottoway is located a short drive from Baton Rouge just across the Mississippi River and is one of many beautiful plantation home tours to experience while in south Louisiana.

Tip: On Thursday evenings Nottoway offers Champagne candlelight tours. For an additional $29 visitors can indulge in a 3 course dinner in the Mansion Restaurant after the tour.

Just stayed at Nottoway for our anniversary. It was delightful. The grounds are so well kept. The food at mansions is excellent. I started with an old fasioned that was the best I’ve ever hand The duck and grits is my favorite. I had the rack of lamb which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the fish which was covered with crab meat. We have also had lunch during the week and everything was really good and reasonably priced. We highly recommend it.
