Sharing Louisiana with @Amtrak #selagumbo

by CajunMama

TravelingMamas.com is traveling along The City of New Orleans line on Amtrak to share a little bit of Louisiana at a few of the stops. The Southeast Louisiana Gumbo Express is currently in Jackson, MS meeting with area media and enjoying some of the culinary delights from the state.

The City of New Orleans runs from Chicago with stops along the way, ending in New Orleans. While New Orleans is tons of fun, those looking to experience the rest of Southeast Louisiana might choose to get off the train in Hammond, Louisiana to begin exploring the area.

Below are a few photos from the media reception, which includes Louisiana seafood, jambalaya, Amtrak 40th anniversary cookies, and some local Louisiana libations.

It’s been fun checking out what Amtrak has to offer for travelers. Jerome Trahan from Amtrak let me know about how to get deals on train fare during off-peak times with advanced booking at http://www.amtrak.com/bookearly/

Be sure to check out http://www.selagumbo.com to learn more about the Southeast Louisiana Gumbo Express parishes involved in this outreach.

Hi Shannon,
Just wanted to let you know I enjoyed meeting you and the SELA Gumbo adventure with Amtrak. It was great fun and a learning experence as I am new with the group, representing St. Helena Parish.
Hope to see you on another trip, soon.
